Stuart in the derelict Tower
Stuart's Story.
This is about 2001, I worked in a big warehouse in Basildon. All the lads got on like a house on fire and we were always going out on the lash, booze-ups and the like. We used to go up to Yarmouth for a few years on a Beano with some of the lads - seven or eight lads, two car loads. We did that for a couple of years then we said "why don't we go somewhere a bit closer - why don't we go to Jaywick?" We went there just for a long weekend I remember. We obviously went into Clacton, had a few beers and then the next day me and Scott thought "why don't we go and have a look in the Tower." It was all boarded up but there was a bit of a hole on the front door possibly, so we snuck in and it was really dark - we didn't have mobile phones or anything then - we just had to find our way through. We couldn't get upstairs because there was no stairs or no access point so we had climb up. There was a massive gap and we had to give each other a 'bunk up' and then the person at the top pulled the other person up. We got into the main domed bit inside. So we took two pictures, one of which is with the camera on the wall taken on a 35mm Happy Snaps, just placed on the wall with a timer - so like 'selfie' if you will. Then the other one with me with my head in the window is him taking a picture of me. So we just larked about in there a bit, jumped back down and went out again. We told the other lads what we'd been up to when we got back then probably went out on the lash again! It was good fun - get away from town for a bit, be somewhere else - at the seaside!
